Well, that was a weird one. When we put together our 2020 preview back in November 2019 we were shiny-eyed and giddy with the prospect of the cinematic glory awaiting us over the next year. Bond! Top Gun: Maverick! Black Widow! Tenet! Dune! And then you-know-what happened… We reflect on a strange year that changed cinema (possibly forever?) and made all of us pivot to different ways of watching movies, opening us up to films we may not have otherwise seen and giving us soooo much time at home to catch up on classics and all that TV. We’ve talked to directors making and putting out movies despite the difficulties, and actors who’ve shone, and also rated our top movies/turkeys of the year. Plus, we talked career highlights with polymath Riz Ahmed and got the gossip on our new Marvel fix, WandaVision – all keeping us going until we can get back into the cinemas again next year. We wish you a Merry Christmas, from our TF family to yours, and we’ll see you on the other side. 2021, here we come… Enjoy the issue!
